Video #3: STUDENT
– STUDENT INTERVIEW
Student A: (We) were thinking about why California has so many
different species. And so we, at first we were asked to explain our thinking.
Why do we think that there are so many different species? And so at first I was
thinking, hmm, why are there so many different species? And I came to the
conclusion that it might be because we have a bunch of different climates and
habitats. And so then we were asked to draw a diagram. And then we were ex..,
we were explained to what, why. We looked at a map which showed us how many different,
um, climates there are and we thought about what could have caused all these
different species to come into existence. And so we came to the conclusion that
it is because there are so many different habitats and, um a, climates that we
have so many species and that they may have come from similar ancestors. And so
we did a little bit more research and we finalized that conclusion.
Student B: Um, just one question. Does the first species, up here, like
relate to anything we did in class? Like maybe...
Student A: This was actually part of my thinking during the first part
of the, um, thought experiment.
Student B: Cool.
